The Truth about the Truth
Seriously, does anyone really know the whole truth about anything? “Truth”, it’s the foundation of our legal system, we set people free . . . or not, expecting that the trial before had uncovered the complete truth. Everything we do, who we trust, all our decisions are based on this little word; it may be the most powerful word in the universe . . . or not.
Really, how important is it, to get to the whole truth? The answer to this is, “It depends.” Many times getting to the whole truth seems rather unnecessary. “If a tree falls in the middle of the woods, does it make any noise?” At first glance, the answer is “probably”, but this answer assumes no one is around to hear the noise. If we change the context to “you are under that tree”, then you not only care, but you rely on the fact that a falling tree makes noise.
Let’s change the context one more time . . . “you are under that tree and I’m far away and I never met you.” For you, nothing has changed, but for me I’m sorry to say, it’s just not that important. It seems the truth is nothing more than an agreement reached using selected facts, and this agreement is only valid within the context of those who care enough to investigate.

Betsy Miranda is a respected news anchor for a local television station. Her reputation takes a hit after the airing of a featured spot called, “The Man with an Answer”. For her it was a fairly safe, feel good story, but her regular audience’s angry feedback was unexpected.
